Teen Tech Academy 2017

The Summer of 2017 will be chock full of unique learning opportunities for Middle and High School students in Fairfield County, thanks to Rippowam Labs!

We will be offering week-long classes in the following areas (between June 19th – August 15th):

  • Electric Skateboard Build – (July 10- July 14) Students will be cruising in the fast lane after learning to build and  program this cool project, which can go 22 mph and travel up to 10 miles between charges. Besides soldering this beast together, they will also write two programs – one that will be flashed on the microntroller (which  will manage the speed of the wheels); and another for a smartphone app that will control the microcontroller (via Bluetooth). Here is one in action, to give you an idea of what its like.
  • Robot Academy – (July 17 – July 21) This is a favorite for students wanting to get an introduction to the world of robotics. Students will build a bot that can run in autonomous mode  … or be controlled by a cellphone.
  • Android App Academy – (Aug 7 – Aug 11) Students will learn to code  5 apps that will be published to the Google Play store. They’ll learn to write Java code in the Android Studio environment, harnessing Bluetooth,  GPS and Cloud APIs.
  • Spy Gadget Academy – (July 31 – Aug 4) You’ll create 3 gadgets that will enable you to listen in on your friend’s conversations, keep watch over your stuff and prevent the government from knowing which Web sites you visit.

No experience is necessary to take part in these classes. Everyone is guaranteed to leave with fully functioning projects!

Parents can drop their students off before work and pick them up afterward. Lunch is provided!!!

They’ll be taught by experienced instructors that have taught at libraries, makerspaces and schools all over Fairfield County and beyond.

Our camps are designed to offer as much learning as possible in a safe and friendly environment. Your child will make new friends and learn so many new skills.
