In order to make biking to work do-able, you’ll have to master the art of packing for the day
You can either buy some specialty racks and packs (see below) or you can do it for free.
If you work in an office, you have to make sure that you’re work clothes won’t get wrinkled in your backpack. Here is the process I used when I didn’t have a car for three years.
1. Lie your ironed pants flat on a counter or ironing board.
2. Fold them over and press flat with your hands.
3. Take your laptop (or a hard piece of plastic or a strong piece of cardboard and fold your pants over it.4. Lie your shirt flat and make as flat as possible. 5. Fold your shirt literally in half and smooth the material out as best as possible with your hands. Then fold sleeves down over body of shirt. Make the fold where the sleeve meets the body of the shirt.
6. Fold the whole thing in half.
7. Place the shirt on top of your pants.
8. Fit whole package into plastic grocery bag and place into backback.
9. Tolls for the road. It’s a good idea to have an extra tube and some handtools, just in case of a breakdown. Everything can fit in a plastic sandwich bag and be placed in a backpack. 10. Don’t forget your lunch … I used the screw-top lids, just to make sure no leaks happen.11. But, for double protection …
and it all fits … Not that heavy!!12. And don’t forget to pack an extra pair of undies. You’ll thank me for this!
But for those who have some extra cash to burn, we’d like you to turn your attention to a couple of ingenious devices…
A custom backpack for your suit
And another similar pack from Henty called the Wingman.
