This is a rare learning opportunity offered few, if any, other places in the United States. You’ll be led by a budding astronomy guru in building your very own telescope. (That’s him below and the telescope you’ll be building.)
Zane Landers, a 16 year-old Stamford resident, has been featured in Sky & Telescope and Time magazine. He’s experimented with several telescope designs – but he’s found one that offers the lowest price point – but the highest quality.
Too often, people buy entry level models found in the Mall or in store catalogs, only to be disappointed when they get it set up in their backyard. Sure, they may be able to get a fuzzy image of the moon – but nothing great after that.
For this class, he’s hit up all his best suppliers and worked great deals, so that as many people as possible will be able to dive into the world of astronomy and enjoy it for years to some. This build will be based on Stellafane-style Dobsonian plans featured in popular astronomy literature.
With this model, Zane’s students will be able to get a glimpse of the rings of Saturn and beyond – at about the same price they charge in the stores. And, they’ll have the wonderful experience of building the whole thing themselves.
There is no age requirement for this class and no special skills are needed for this project. Zane and the Rippowam Labs team will help you create every square inch of this. Every student is guaranteed to leave with a high-performing telescope.
