The Indians, who were in Stamford hundreds of years before Europeans arrived, named the area Rippowam. Our group’s name is a tribute to their resourcefulness and the thriving culture they created.
Just like the Indians shared their knowledge and survival skills, so does this group. We hold regular free classes on everything from computer/smartphone programming, electronics and robotics to knitting and sewing.
Along with sharing our knowledge with our community, we also try to be good citizens of the digital world. We realize we get so much knowledge from Web and we make a conscious effort to give back to this space.
We meet in libraries, schools and spaces across Fairfield County, CT and our own Makerspace (25 Fairfield Avenue in Stamford). Everyone is welcome in this group – no matter who you are. Everything has something to offer. We hope you will join us on our journey of discovery.
Our classes are the most sought after in our area for those seeking knowledge in the DIY world. John Robert is the most prolific teacher of robotics in Fairfield County, CT. He’s literally taught hundreds to build their very first robot – and has tutored many more on Open Source software and hardware.
