Spy Gadget Academy 2017

Did you ever feel like you’re friends were talking smack about you? What if there was a way to listen in on their conversations after you’ve left? Would that be something you’re interested in?

During this week of classes, students will create 3 separate spy projects based on the Raspberry Pi, a credit-card-sized UNIX-based computer, which will give them the kind of information-gathering tools privy to only CIA agents.

Spy glasses – You’ll create a pair of spy glasses that will record everything you see. This will come in handy if you need evidence when the class bully is pushing you around. All you have to do is show your teacher the video – and he gets sent to detention!

Secret listening device – Students will create their own audio-broadcasting bug they can listen in with the FM Radio tool of their cellphones. This is a perfect way to find out who is stabbing you in the back. A great introduction to radio transmission!

VPN/TOR Router – In this day and age, you can never tell when the government will start snooping into what Web sites you are visiting. It’s really none of their business how many times you visit  Instructables.com, so this device will cloak all your activities on the Internet.

All of these projects will require the students to set up the UNIX environment on the Raspberry Pi – as well as the WiFi capability. If nothing else, it is a great introduction to UNIX computing!

The class will be held July 31 – August 4.
